The Poet/Artist Connection: A Collaboration of Paintbrush & Pen

This workshop is open to youth in the 6th-12th grade age range.

When visual artists and writers collaborate, magic ensues. The writers who sign up for this workshop will collaborate with youth artists from COAP Ministry’s Arts Explosion program to create an exhibition of visual and literary art that will be displayed downtown at the Cape Fear Gallery later in the month.

In the workshops, we will explore partnerships between famous artists and writers such as Salvador Dali and Lewis Carroll, Pablo Picasso and Gertrude Stein, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michael Basquiat, and others. We will discuss how visual artists and writers draw inspiration from each other and how to foster a successful partnership. Then, in collaboration, we will create works of visual and literary art to be exhibited at the Cape Fear Gallery. There will be an opening reception on 4th Friday, April 28, and the community will be invited to attend and celebrate the creativity of our youth participants.
